Nutrition

Like most people already know, there's no easy way to get a lean and muscular body. There isn't a macig pill you can take that will make you loose weight without lifting a finger! Think about it...if something like that would exist, why isn't everybody that want to loose weight skinny? It takes a lot of hard work in the gym and a clean and nutritious diet. Training everyday means nothing if you don't support it with clean eating. Trust me, I know! A couple of years ago I used to work out like a maniac but wasn't seeing the results I was looking for. I thought I was eating good but now I know that I wasn't eating enough to feed my body to build muscle and let go of the fat.

Now knowing better, I eat every 2-3 hours to keep my metabolism up and I eat about 6-7 small meals a day. Sometimes it's hard to find time to eat because I'm always on the run but with some planning it always works out. People usually think I'm weird when I bring out my tupperware or shaker when I'm out but I really don't care. This is my choice, my lifestyle and it's what I have to do to reach my goals.

It's important to find the right balance between carbs, protein and fat and also get those nutrients from the "right" foods. This is what I eat most of the time:

Carbs:
Sweet potatoes
Rice
Oats
Corn tortillas
Beans/Lentils
Fruits and Veggies.

Protein:
Chicken
Turkey
Egg whites
Fish/Shellfish
Sometimes lean steak and salmon
Whey protein.

Fats:
Almonds
Natural Peanut Butter
Avocado
Salmon

I eat clean all year around but I truly believe that you have to listen to your body and treat yourself sometimes. How fun is life if you can't have the things you love?! But that doesn't mean a cheat day with everything you normally don't have. If I have a cheat meal I usually eat the same food as I normally eat, just a little more of it.

It's also important to realize that you have to eat enough to be sure not to loose muscle. When you're dieting there's a fine balance between cardio and clean eating and not eating enough will keep you from getting the results you want.

Supplements

Sometimes when you're training really hard and eating very restricted it's hard to get enough vitamins and minerals. That's why I always recommend everyone to take a multivitamin once a day. I also use a lot of whey protein powder, it's an easy way to get your protein in and I love it because it's so easy to bring with me. When I'm dieting I also take essential fatty acids (Smart Blend by MRM), Digestive Enzymes (Digest-All by MRM) and Glutamine for recovery.
